FORMAT
A.
The Ryder Cup is a match play competition with 36 total points available.
The event is played at a par 3 course, with three 9-hole formats (27 holes total).
If you win more holes than your opponent, you score a point for your team. If the match is tied, then you earn half a point for your team.
Formats: Scramble, Singles, Four-Ball (Aggregate)
A.
In Scramble (2v2), each team member tees off, the best shot is selected and each member plays their next shot from that spot. This continues throughout the rest of the shots until the ball is holed. The team with the lowest score wins the hole and if the scores are the same then the hole is tied.
A.
In Singles (1v1), players compete head-to-head. The lowest score wins the hole and if the scores are the same then the hole is tied.
A.
In Four-Balls (Aggregate), every player plays their own ball and the pairing with the lowest combined score wins the hole and if the scores are the same then the hole is tied.
SCORING
A.
The day consists of 36 total matches, each of which is worth one point. There are no extra holes in Ryder Cup matches. Should the two sides be tied after 9 holes, each side earns a half point.
A.
All matches must be played. There are 36 total points available, and the team with the most points wins. In the case of a tie, the winning team from the previous Ryder Cup retains the trophy.
A.
Unlike stroke play, players don’t have to complete each hole in match play. If a player concedes a stroke – almost always a putt – to his opponent, the opponent picks up his ball, takes the score he would have made on the next stroke and moves on to the next hole.
